Project Qualification, MOQ & Investment

As an integrated packaging partner, we design packaging and manage full-scale production, quality assurance, and global shipping—we primarily partner with brands with an overall packaging project budget of $10,000 or more.

We outline all service fees and provide early production estimates within our comprehensive, customized proposals.

Zenpack does not enforce rigid factory minimums. Instead, we qualify and evaluate projects based on overall budget, structural complexity, and your brand’s specific goals. We match your project with specialized production partners within our network best suited to deliver high-quality custom packaging within your target investment.

Please note that while we can accommodate lower quantities for highly complex, high-value projects, 10,000+ units is typically the most economical for standard custom packaging production.

We love to collaborate and appreciate your input and direction. To start the process, we generally require:

  1. Your brand assets and guidelines (vector logos, brand colors, fonts).
  2. Physical dimensions, CAD files, or weight information for the product(s) you are packaging.
  3. Your overall goals, timeline, and budget parameters.

Working with Zenpack (Our Model & Capabilities)

Yes! Our award-winning design capabilities span from initial ideation and concept creation all the way to structural engineering and mass manufacturing. We work closely with your brand to create packaging that is both beautiful and structurally sound.

Yes. As a full-service packaging manufacturer, we can receive your existing design files, optimize them for production, and manufacture them to your exact specifications.

We manufacture primarily in East Asia (China and Taiwan), and sometimes in the U.S., depending on the box type, materials, and logistical requirements of your project.

Our team includes creatives (designers, engineers), communicators (project manager, sales), and sourcing experts (supply chain manager, quality control), based across offices in San Jose, New York, Taipei, and Southern China.

Project Timelines & Logistics

We can generally start quickly. While our starting dates depend on ongoing work and current project pipelines, we make sure to discuss, align upon, and define specific kickoff dates during our proposal process.

For standard custom packaging programs, we plan around the following phase timelines to ensure quality and precision:

  • Brand & Packaging Design: 8–12 weeks
  • Production Sampling & Mockups: 4–8 weeks
  • Tooling & Mold Development: Weeks to months (depending on complexity and necessary revisions/adjustments)
  • ISTA Transit Testing (Optional): 4–6 weeks
  • Mass Production (Paper-based): 3–4 weeks
  • Air Shipping: 2 weeks (including customs clearance from China to the U.S.)
  • Ocean Shipping: 6–8 weeks (including customs clearance from China to the U.S.)

We specialize in rapid-turnaround campaigns. For custom promotional packaging and curated Swag kits, we offer a highly expedited 4-to-8-week timeline that spans design, sourcing, production, hand-assembly kitting, and international delivery.

Yes. We handle end-to-end global logistics, including multi-address distribution to 500+ international influencers, custom packaging hand-assembly (kitting), customs documentation, duties, and real-time delivery tracking.

Design, Prototyping & Validation

Our process begins with a deep-dive discovery phase where we learn about your product, brand guidelines, and market category to identify opportunities for differentiation. From there, our design exploration team develops a wide range of creative concepts. Through collaborative check-ins, we narrow and refine these with you until we reach a final, approved concept.

Our structural and visual design team is highly skilled at translating abstract concepts or visual references into manufacturable packaging. We welcome any source of inspiration, whether they are physical samples, Pinterest mood boards, or AI-generated concept images.

We run extensive physical drop and stress tests during the prototyping stage to ensure your product remains safe during transit. Our engineering team in Southern China repeats these tests using certified laboratory equipment. We also offer dedicated ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) testing on request.

Yes. We approach sustainable redesigns using a structured, 4-part framework:

  • Purpose: Assessing your product’s retail and protection needs.
  • Reduction: Eliminating excess materials and optimizing dimensions to reduce carbon footprints.
  • Supply: Sourcing eco-friendly, recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable materials.
  • System: Designing packaging that is optimized for manufacturing efficiency, shipping density, and circular disposal.

Production, Color & Artwork Setup

Computer screens use RGB light-based color profiles (typically brighter and highly saturated) and vary widely in calibration. Physical printing uses CMYK or Pantone Matching System (PMS) inks on substrates that absorb ink differently. To ensure perfect color accuracy, we calibrate and match your artwork using physical Pantone swatch books rather than digital screens.

Pantone Coated (marked with a ‘C’) and Uncoated (marked with a ‘U’) swatches show how the same ink formulation looks when printed on different paper stocks. Coated paper holds the ink on the surface for a vibrant, crisp finish, while uncoated paper absorbs the ink, resulting in a warmer, more matte, and slightly muted appearance.

Lithographic (offset) printing is a high-volume, high-quality printing method commonly used for premium packaging. It uses custom aluminum plates to transfer ink onto a rubber blanket cylinder, which then offsets it onto the paper substrate with exceptional detail and color fidelity.

Spot UV is a premium decorative finish where a liquid polymer varnish is applied to a specific, targeted area of your packaging (such as a logo or typography) and then exposed to UV light. This instantly cures the varnish into a high-gloss, satin, or reflective tactile layer.

Embossing uses custom tooling dies to raise a design element above the surface of the paper, creating a three-dimensional effect. Debossing presses the design element down into the paper, below the surface. You can use both techniques alone or combine them with hot foil stamping for a premium tactile look.
